Week 1 task
CROSS DISCIPLINARY
Cross-disciplinary study is about more than a joint degree. It's about well-rounded faculty who integrate lessons across professional fields in the classroom, easy access to schools and programs across the University Campus, and preparing law graduates for wide-ranging career opportunities.
INTER DISCIPLINARY
The study, or practice, of a subject which applies the methods and approaches of several disciplines. For instance, while History, Literature and Archaeology are separate disciplines, they can be combined.
TRANS DISCIPLINARY
Trans disciplinarity connotes a research strategy that crosses many disciplinary boundaries to create a holistic approach. It applies to research efforts focused on problems that cross the boundaries of two or more disciplines, such as research on effective information system for biomedical research, and can refer to concepts or methods that were originally developed by one discipline, but are now used by several others, such as ethnography, a field research method originally developed in anthropology but now widely used by other disciplines.
QUALITATIVE RESEARCH
Qualitative research is all about exploring issues, understanding phenomena, and answering questions. While there's a whole industry engaged in its pursuit, qualitative research also happens in nearly every workplace and study environment, nearly every day.
ETHNOGRAPHIC RESEARCH
Ethnographic research is research done to document and analyze ethnic groups based on social and cultural identification, as well as physical description.Ethnography is a science that seeks to understand customs, cultures and belief systems of large groups of people or organizations. An ethnographer doing research seeks to blend into a group of people or organization. Ethnographers must be prepared to spend endless hours noting any and all changes that occur during their time with this group or organization.
